Money Moves: How Gen Z Is Flipping the Script on Finance
On 3 November 2025, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) hosted Money Moves: How Gen Z Is Flipping the Script on Finance, featuring Mr. He Rui Ming, co-founder of The Woke Salaryman. The lunchtime talk, held in collaboration with the Institute for Financial Literacy (IFL), aimed to raise financial awareness among youths and equip them with practical tools to navigate personal finance.

The event gathered SP students, IFL volunteers, and educators for an informal yet thought-provoking discussion on Gen Z financial literacy and content creation. Mr. He shared candid insights into how young people today view money, careers, and financial independence, while exploring topics such as Gen Z financial trends, the reinterpretation of FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early), and how storytelling makes finance relatable.

An engaging Q&A session saw students discuss balancing social spending with long-term goals and the impact of influencers on financial habits. Participants described the session as “relatable” and “inspiring.”
Through initiatives like these, SP and IFL continue to empower students and educators with financial confidence, creativity, and real-world money skills—helping the next generation make informed and confident money moves.
