Empowering Policy Leaders: A Singapore Learning Experience for Bangladesh Officials

On 1 December 2025, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Executive Education welcomed 26 government officials from Bangladesh for a key learning journey under the two-week “Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (SICIP),” delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Bangladesh. Designed for leaders from diverse ministries, the programme aims to deepen understanding of effective policy design, examine global and Singapore-based approaches, and guide participants in developing scalable, practical solutions that address Bangladesh’s economic and social priorities.

The visit to Singapore Polytechnic was hosted by Mr Toh Ser Khoon, Managing Director of SPI, and followed an earlier briefing on Singapore’s education policies by Dr Prasad of the Singapore Education Consulting Group. Together, the session and site visit provided a coherent and immersive look into Singapore’s integrated education, skills development, and innovation ecosystem.

Over the 1.5-hour programme, participants were introduced to Singapore’s manufacturing landscape and its shift towards Industry 4.0, before embarking on a thematic tour of the Advanced Manufacturing Centre. Through the Digitalization, Integrated, and Smart Zones—aligned with the SIRI framework—they explored digital workflows, collaborative robotics, connected systems, real-time analytics, digital twins, and AI-enabled optimisation. The visit offered valuable insights into how advanced manufacturing capabilities can drive national competitiveness and sectoral transformation.
