Maritime Safety & Port Management: Building Regional Expertise

From 9 to 13 June 2025, the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) hosted 19 delegates from eight Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) member states for the Maritime Safety & Port Management Programme. Singapore Polytechnic International (SPI), together with the Singapore Maritime Academy, designed and delivered the five-day course, which blended expert lectures with hands-on site visits to leading maritime facilities such as the PSA Innovation Centre, MPA Port Operations Control Centre, and NTU’s Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence.

The programme achieved an outstanding average participant rating of 6.45 out of 7, with strong praise for its relevance, structure, and delivery. Cybersecurity, maritime security, and sustainable port operations emerged as particularly impactful themes.

Through such collaborations, SPI continues to support global capacity building while showcasing Singapore’s expertise in maritime innovation and sustainability. Discover SPI’s training and consultancy offerings at https://www.spi.edu.sg
