Strengthening Internship Management and Industry Collaboration through COTPTIT-D16 Training
Singapore Polytechnic (SP) recently hosted a comprehensive training programme from 17–19 and 21 November 2025, designed to deepen participants’ understanding of SP’s internship ecosystem and applied learning practices. 15 participants, including a President, Deans, Deputy Deans, Deputy Secretary, and teaching faculty gained valuable insights into SP’s internship ecosystem and its strong industry-aligned education model. Many highlighted how the programme deepened their understanding of SP’s structured processes and assessment approaches.
Participants were introduced to SP’s systematic internship management mechanisms, including clear workflows, documentation processes, and quality assurance measures that support both students and industry partners. The training unpacked how SP collaborates closely with enterprises to jointly assess student performance, develop relevant assessment indicators, and ensure that internship experiences remain industry-aligned and impactful.
The course also provided an in-depth exploration of curriculum design, the CDIO (Conceive–Design–Implement–Operate) framework, and experiential learning models that empower students to apply knowledge meaningfully. Trainers further highlighted SP’s strengths in interdisciplinary learning, enterprise technical services, and its emphasis on nurturing career-ready graduates.
Beyond academic structures, participants discussed strategies for strengthening industry collaboration, building relationships with professional enterprises, and enhancing student career planning frameworks. The programme also offered insights into Singapore’s broader education landscape, enabling institutions to draw from successful local practices and adapt them to their own contexts.
