Empowering Young Minds: SMPK Penabur Jakarta’s Educational Visit to Singapore Polytechnic
On 25 February 2026, Singapore Polytechnic (SP) welcomed 61 Secondary 2 and 3 students from SMPK Penabur Jakarta, Indonesia, for an engaging and immersive educational visit held across two sessions.
The programme began with a Welcome and Introduction to Singapore Polytechnic, where students were introduced to SP’s strong industry links, practice-oriented education model, and focus on preparing learners for real-world careers. The session also provided useful insights into academic pathways and key entry requirements for overseas students, offering a glimpse into future study opportunities in Singapore.

The highlight of the visit was a pair of hands-on workshops conducted by SP’s School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering. During the Zumo Robot Workshop, students explored the fundamentals of robotics and autonomous systems. Working with a tracked robot platform, they learned about motors, sensors, and control logic, and applied basic coding skills to programme their robots. The session culminated in a lively arena challenge, where participants tested their creations in friendly competition.

In the Drone Flying Experience, students were introduced to drone technology and flight operations. Through guided practice, they performed basic manoeuvres such as take-off, hovering, directional control, and landing, gaining firsthand exposure to emerging technologies shaping today’s digital landscape.
The visit offered a dynamic blend of technology, creativity, and teamwork. To organise a similar educational visit or customised programme, please contact kim_lee@spi.edu.sg
