The course entry criteria vary depending on which country your qualifications is from and/or the type of qualifications you possess.

**Students holding GCE 'O' or 'A' Levels (Singapore Cambridge), Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) or ITE qualifications, please refer to www.sp.edu.sg for admission procedure.


GCSE/IGCSE/GCE (non Singapore-Cambridge)

Completed and obtained the minimum English, Maths and a Relevant subject grades (in 1 seating) for the respective courses. Please refer to http://www.sp.edu.sg/FulltimeCourses.  A 'B' average would be minimally sufficient for candidates to make a competitive application.#

GCSE/IGCSE grades A to C is comparable to GCE 'O' levels grades 1 to 6. 
GCSE/IGCSE grade D is comparable to GCE 'O' levels grade 7

 
INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) DIPLOMA

Completed IB Diploma (Middle Years Programme is not considered): Minimum Grade 4 (1st Language) or Grade 5 (2nd Language) for English is required except for Media & Communication and Applied Drama & Psychology courses where a Grade 5 (1st Language) or Grade 6 (2nd Language) for English is required. Minimum Grade 5 for Maths and a Relevant subject .  The overall aggregate should be at least 22 (based on 5 subjects including English, Maths & the  Relevant subject).

INDIA

Completed  Year 10

Obtained from:
- Indian Certification of Secondary Education (ICSE) issued by Council for the Indian Certificate Examinations

- Central Board of Secondary Education Examinations (CBSE)

Completion of year 10 School Certificate with minimum scores of 70% for English, 80% for Mathematics and 80% for a Relevant Subject, 70% for 2 other subjects and an overall for 5 subjects of at least 75%. 

 

Obtained from:

-  Indian Standard 10 (State and other Boards apart from ICSE and CBSE)

Completion of Year 10 School Certificate with minimum scores of 80% for English, 90% for Mathematics and 90% for a Relevant Subject, 80% for 2 other subjects and an overall for 5 subjects of at least 85%.

 

  OR

Completed Year 12

Senior School Certificate with minimum scores of 70% for English, 75% for Mathematics, 75% for  a Relevant subject and 70% in 2 other subjects. The overall for 5 subjects should be at least 70%.  This applies to all Examination Boards. 

 

Applicants based on the above qualifications will be required to sit for Entrance Tests  in English (written), Mathematics and Science conducted and as scheduled by SPI.

 

 

INDONESIA
SMA UAN / STTB SMA / SMA / SMU Ebtanas - Completed Senior High School (Year 12), passed the Evaluation Examination (SMA or SMU Ebtanas) or STTB SMA or SMA Ujian Akhir Nasional (UAN) attaining minimum scores of 6 for English, 7 for Maths & 7 for a Relevant Subject and 6 for the remaining subjects. For SMA UAN, the minimum overall score based on 6 subjects including English, Maths and Relevant subject should be at least 40. For STTB SMA or SMA/ SMU Ebtanas, the overall score based on 7 subjects should be at least 46.
 

Applicants based on the above qualifications will be required to sit for Entrance Tests  in English (written), Mathematics and Science conducted and as scheduled by SPI.

 

 

PEOPLES' REPUBLIC OF CHINA
Gao Kao (also known as National College Entrance Examination (NCEE)) - A minimum overall score of 64%* (e.g. 480/750) as well as a minimum of 60% for English; 65% for Mathematics, 65% for a Relevant Subject (Combined Science/Combined Arts) and 60% for 2 other subjects (or 60% for 1 other subject if NCEE has only 4 subjects). 

*Please note that Ability, Basic Ability or Basic Competence is not taken into account during computation of overall score.

Gao Kao taken in Jiangsu -
A minimum overall score of 282 out of 440 marks for English, Maths and Chinese as well as a minimum of 60% for English (72 marks), 65% for Maths (104 marks), a grade B+ for a Relevant subject  (Science/Arts) and a grade B for 1 other subject.

 

高考 (NCEE)

 

高考最低总分: 64%^(480/750)

- 英文: 60%

- 数学: 65%

- 一门相关科目: 65% (综合理科 / 综合文科)

- 其他科目: 60%

 

^请注意: 在计算总分时,不包括 <能力>, <基本能力> 或 <能力测试>.

 

江苏省高考 (NCEE)

 

高考最低总分: 282/440

NCEE students from the Arts stream and those students who do not take the relevant Science subject at the NCEE would not be eligible for Engineering/Technology courses.

 

Applicants based on the above qualifications will be required to sit for Entrance Tests in English (written and oral), Mathematics and Science conducted and as scheduled by SPI.

 

 

MYANMAR
Basic Education High School (BEHS) - A minimum overall score of 70% for 5 subjects as well as a minimum score of 60% for English and 75% for Mathematics, 75% for a Relevant Subject  and 60% for 2 other subjects.

Applicants based on the above qualifications will be required to sit for Entrance Tests in English (written), Mathematics and Science conducted and scheduled by SPI.

SRI LANKA
Sri Lankan General Certificate of Education (O.L.) Examination - A minimum overall of 70% (grade B average) is required for 5 subjects as well as minimum score of grade C (60%) for English, grade A (75%) for Maths & a Relevant Subject and grade C (60%) for 2 other subjects.

THAILAND
Completed Maw 6 (Year 12) - A minimum grade point of 2.0  (60%) for English and 3.0  (70%) for Mathematics, 3.0 (70%) for a Relevant subject and 2.0 (60%) in 2 other subjects.  An overall 3.0 (70%/Good) minimum is required. 

 

Applicants based on the above qualifications will be required to sit for Entrance Tests in English (written), Mathematics and Science conducted and scheduled by SPI.

VIETNAM
Completed Year 12 - High School Graduation Examinations with an overall average mark of at least 7 and minimum scores of 6 for English, 7 for Mathematics, 7 for a Relevant subject and a 6 for 2 other subjects. 

 

Applicants based on the above qualifications will be required to sit for Entrance Tests  in English (written), Mathematics and Science conducted and as scheduled by SPI.

 

 

OTHER COUNTRIES

Will be assessed based on its equivalence to the GCE 'O' or 'A' Level examinations

Applicants will most likely have to sit for Entrance Tests in English (written and oral), Mathematics, and Science conducted and scheduled by SPI.

 

 

Notes:

 

  1. The English Entrance Test may be waived for applicants who offer the following:

    (a)  TOEFL score

    Paper Based (TOEP) Computer Based (TOEC) Internet based (TOEI)
    Minimum score:  550 213 79
           

 

If applicants are submitting TOEFL score, please request Educational Testing Service (ETS) to send the result directly to Singapore Polytechnic. (Singapore Polytechnic's code: 8510)  Submission of photocopies or original results is not sufficient for consideration for exemption from Entrance Test. If official results is not received by Singapore Polytechnic at least 3 days before the scheduled date of Entrance Test, applicants must take the Entrance Test paper to support their application.


(b)  IELTS score

 

Minimum overall score: 6.0

 

Minimum score for reading and speaking: 6.0


  1. The following can be offered in support of application:

 

SATI score
Minimum score: Verbal - 560, Math - 600
 

SATII score
Minimum score: Physics/Chemistry - 600

 

If applicants are submitting SATI or SATII score, please request College Board to send the official score report directly to Singapore Polytechnic. (Singapore Polytechnic's code: 5648)  Submission of photocopies or original results is not sufficient for consideration for exemption from Entrance Test. If official score is not received by Singapore Polytechnic at least 3 days before the scheduled date of Entrance Test, applicants must take the Entrance Test paper to support their application.

 

  1. Submission of TOEFL, IELTS, SATI or SATII scores does not automatically exempt a shortlisted applicant from the Entrance Test.

 

  1. Relevant Subject differs with course choice.

 

  1. All applicants have to sit for English, Mathematics and Science unless notified by SPI.
